Romney to debate Democrat Jenny Wilson in Senate race

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — U.S. Senate candidate Mitt Romney will face off against Democratic opponent Jenny Wilson in a debate Tuesday night that could showcase distinct political differences.

The two have differed on issues ranging from Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination to a border wall to the GOP-backed federal tax overhaul.

They will meet in Cedar City as they vie for the Senate seat left open by Sen. Orrin Hatch’s retirement.

Romney, who moved to Utah after his 2012 presidential loss, has said his high political profile would be a boon in Washington.

He’s the favored candidate in conservative Utah, but Wilson, a member of the Salt Lake County Council, says she would bring needed change.
