SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday, by virtue of announcements from Utah Governor Gary Herbert and lieutenant governor Spencer Cox, the Utah Department of Health will work with public school districts throughout the state, including the Wasatch County School District, on a case-by-case basis to make decisions on whether or not closure should occur because of COVIDA-19, otherwise known as coronavirus.
Meanwhile, institutes of higher education have also made declarations concerning their plans in regard to COVIDA-19, throughout the Beehive State.
Brigham Young University confirmed classes slated for March 13, 16 and 17 have been canceled. All courses at the Provo campus and the Salt Lake City center will resume March 18 via remote instruction.
Furthermore, BYU is encouraging students to consider leaving campus and returning home to finish winter semester coursework remotely.
The university also confirmed services and on-campus housing will continue to be available for students who choose to remain.
As of March 23, Dixie State University is moving all classes online.

As of March 23, Salt Lake Community College, all SLCC courses will move to online courses through the end of the semester.
Regular courses at Snow College, at both the Ephraim and Richfield campuses, will ensue through March 20.
At this point, online instruction will commence, effective April 1.
Classes slated for March 30 and 31 have been canceled.
All college-sponsored large gatherings, through April 30 have been canceled. These include both indoor and outdoor activities.
All international and domestic travel sponsored by Snow College and in-state travel has been comparably restricted.
The University of Utah will shift to online instruction as of March 18 for the rest of the spring semester.
Classes have been canceled on March 16 and 17. Throughout the rest of the semester, university housing and food service will remain open. After spring break, students are asked to stay home.
Utah State University has canceled all classes from March 13-17 after which all courses will be moved online. All events and non-essential travel are also canceled.
As of March 23, Utah Valley University is moving classes online. Weber State University is moving to online education as of March 18. Classes are canceled March 13-17. Residence halls and dining services will remain open.
Southern Utah University confirms that from March 23-April 23, online instructions will occur.
