Navajo Nation Receives Food and Supplies From Bishops’ Central Storehouses

TOHATCHI, N.M.-During the COVID-19 pandemic, food and supplies from the Bishops’ Central storehouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have been sent to assist those of the Navajo Nation.

The Navajo reservation spans southeastern Utah, northeastern Arizona and northwestern New Mexico.

Two Deseret Transportation trucks from Salt Lake City arrived on the reservation, bringing canned goods.

A Pentecostal church in Tohatchi, N.M., which is located on the reservation, had flour and pasta for distribution to those in need.

Many of the recipients of these gifts live as far away as 50 miles away from grocery stores and other such conveniences.

The Navajo Nation, the White Mountain Apache Tribe (located near the White Mountains of northeastern Arizona) and several surrounding communities are uniting with the Church for a global fast Friday.
