HURRICANE, Utah-Saturday afternoon, John Moss of the Wasatch County School District, clarified certain aspects of the COVID-19, or coronavirus, ruling in the state of Utah made by Governor Herbert Friday afternoon.
Moss, who is a Wasatch baseball broadcaster for 94.5 The Peak/AM 1340 and hebervalleyradio.com, took time in between the Wasps’ two broadcasts Saturday to address anything that may be unclear for Heber Valley residents.
Moss reiterated the words of Herbert, lieutenant governor Spencer Cox, Dr. Kurt Hegmann of the University of Utah and Utah State Superintendent of Public Instruction Sydney Dixon.
He more specifically mentioned that packets for instruction are available at the schools during the moratorium, that is to run March 16-30 before reevaluation occurs. The doors of the schools will remain open during this period.
Furthermore, Moss confirmed that lunches are available at all the schools. These include Daniels Canyon, Heber Valley, JR Smith and Old Mill Elementary Schools in Heber City, Midway Elementary School in Midway, Rocky Mountain and Timpanogos Middle Schools in Heber City and Wasatch High School in Heber City.
Moss also advises community members to only listen to designated authorities with any questions about the coronavirus.
He cited the dangers of social media, saying everyone runs rampantly with something that may not be true.
Moss also confirmed this may prove to be an even more educational experience for staff and instructors than it is for students.
