“Intense” White House Discussions Prevent Trump From Quarantining Tri-State Area

WASHINGTON-Sunday, immunologist, Dr. Anthony Fauci, confirmed that United States president Donald Trump ultimately decided not to quarantine sections of New York state, New Jersey and Connecticut after “intensive discussions” with health officials Saturday.

Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, said on CNN’s “State of the Union,” that it was important not to enforce something that could possibly cause “a greater difficulty” on this matter.

Rather, a travel issue advisory has since been implemented. This consists of a “refrain from non-essential domestic travel” for the next 14 days.

Fauci confirmed that the statistics concerning COVID-19 remain disproportionately in the greater New York City area as 56 percent of all U.S. cases of the coronavirus occur there.
