SALT LAKE CITY-Wednesday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed the Salta Argentina Temple’s groundbreaking date has been rescheduled.
It was initially scheduled for Saturday August 15 but because of covid-19, this has since been rescheduled for Friday October 9.
The event will be presided over by Elder Benjamin De Hoyos, the South America South Area President of the Salt Lake City-based faith.
The event will follow social distancing guidelines. Attendance will be by invitation only.
The groundbreaking service will be broadcast to meetinghouses in the temple district.
The Salta Temple, upon its construction, will be the third temple in Argentina.
The others are located in Buenos Aires (1986) and Cordoba (2015).
Argentina is currently the home to 470,843 Latter-day Saints. Argentina also consists of 78 stakes, 13 missions, 27 districts and 123 family history centers.
