Gov. Cox Signs Law Requiring Silent Alarms At Schools

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah Governor Spencer Cox has signed House Bill 84 into law, which makes silent alarms a requirement in schools across the state. The alarms can be triggered in the event of a mass shooting, which alerts police and first responders as quickly as possible. The measure in the bill requiring the alarms is called Alyssa’s Law, which is named after Alyssa Alhadeff, who died in the 2018 Parkland school shooting. Alyssa’s law has already been passed in New Jersey, Florida, New York, Texas, and Tennessee.
