LOS ANGELES-Late Tuesday, public health officials in Los Angeles confirmed the first child death in the United States because of coronavirus.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health described the child as a resident of Lancaster, Calif.
Over the last 48 hours, Los Angeles County has confirmed 256 additional coronavirus cases.
Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Director, Dr. Barbara Ferrer said 42 percent of hospitalizations in the county have involved those from 18-40 years old.
39 percent of cases, Ferrer continued, involve individuals from 41-65 years old.
