SALT LAKE CITY-Per a Thursday statement, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints announced it has temporarily suspended large gatherings of Church members throughout the world.
In an official statement released by the First Presidency and Quorum of Twelve Apostles, the Church confirms that the counsel of local Church leaders, government officials and medical professionals has been considered.
Furthermore, all stake conferences, leadership conferences and other large gatherings have also been suspended.
This also includes all public worship services, including Sacrament meetings.
All branch, ward and stake activities have also been suspended.
Wherever possible, leadership meetings should be conducted via technology. Specific questions may be referred to local Priesthood leaders.
Further direction related to other matters will be provided later.
Bishops are advised to counsel with stake presidents in their stakes to determine how to make the Sacrament available to members monthly.
The First Presidency and Quorum of Twelve Apostles also advise members to care for one another in their ministering efforts.
In closing, the statement advises Church members worldwide to “follow the Savior’s example to bless and lift others.”
