Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Represented At National Day of Prayer

WASHINGTON-Wednesday, as part of the National Day of Prayer service in the Rose Garden at the White House in Washington, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was one of seven religious organizations represented.

The Salt Lake City-based faith was represented by Debbie Marriott Harrison, the global cultural ambassador at Marriott International and a member of the Church’s Public Affairs Advisory Council in Washington.

United States President Donald J. Trump issued a proclamation designating May 7, 2020 as a National Day of Prayer.

This event has been a tradition on May’s first Thursday every year since 1952.

Trump was joined by the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, who gave an introductory prayer.

Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen, were also present.

As Harrison prayed, she asked for a blessing upon medical workers, scientists and government leaders.
