Body of 21-Year-Old Diver At Olmstead Diversion Dam Recovered Late Saturday Evening

Per a report from KUTV 2 News in Salt Lake City, the man who drowned was identified as Albert John “AJ” Mapa. Mapa had returned from serving a mission in Tonga for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The body of a 21-year-old man who was reported as missing at Olmstead Diversion Dam in Provo Canyon has been recovered, per a statement from Utah County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Spencer Cannon late Saturday evening.

Initial reports stated that after the man jumped off the bridge into the water, he was reported as missing for more than 20 minutes.

The spot he jumped from has been reported as a popular place for people to jump from into the water.

As of the time of this report Saturday evening, the man had not been identified.
