RIVERTON, Utah-Friday, Wasatch High School’s boys and girls track teams, competing primarily against their fellow 5-A foes and select 6-A schools, fared well at the Riverton Invitational at Riverton High School.
The Wasps’ girls placed third with 65 points while the Wasatch boys placed seventh with 33.5 points.
For the girls, Sydney Hales won the 400-meter dash (59.95 seconds). Additionally, Jennifer Lythgoe placed 10th (1:03.86), Makayla Bastos finished 11th (1:04.16) and Sydney Price placed 15th (1:04.98).
The Wasps’ girls earned another win in the medley (4:33.57) as the competitors in this event were Karissa Bingham, Makayla Bastos, Sydney Hales and Madelyn King.
Abbie Randall earned another individual win for the Wasatch girls in the 3200-meter run (11:33.25). Megan Woodard placed 21st (14:13.50) for the Wasps in the event.
The fourth win for the Wasatch girls came in the 4 x 400 relay (4:16.24). This team consists of Sydney Price, Makayla Bastos, Jennifer Lythgoe and Sydney Hales.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Ellie Martindale (17.77 seconds) placed 10th, Mae Foster finished 20th (19.15 seconds) and McKinley Raven placed 27th (20.01 seconds).
In the girls’ 100-meter dash, Karissa Bingham finished 15th (13.83 seconds), Lucy Clawson placed 21st (14.07 seconds), Makayla Bastos finished 25th (14.18 seconds) and Sydney Price placed 28th (14.29 seconds).
In the girls’ 1600-meter run, Madelyn King placed 17th (5:46.00) and Sophia Burkemo finished 40th (6:29.31).
The Wasatch girls placed 7th in the 4 x 100 relay in a time of 53.57 seconds. This team featured Lucy Clawson, Callie Griffith, Miranda Ross and Jennifer Lythgoe.
In the girls’ 800-meter run, Anna Baird placed sixth (2:33.23), Savannah Dorrough finished 11th (2:38.15), Brooke Sargent placed 12th (2:39.16), Grace Neal finished 17th (2:44.96) and Lotte Pensky placed 31st (2:49.33).
In the girls’ 300-meter hurdles, Mae Foster (54.18 seconds) placed 12th, Savanna Dorrough finished 16th (54.55), Anzlei Larsen finished 19th (55.31) and McKinley Raven placed 27th (56.54).
In the girls’ 200-meter dash, Sydney Hales placed 4th (27.35 seconds), Karissa Bingham finished 15th (28.44 seconds), Lucy Clawson placed 18th (28.85 seconds) and Sydney Price finished 20th (28.93 seconds).
The girls’ long jump saw Karissa Bingham place fourth (15-10.50 feet) while Ellie Martindale finished eighth (14-08.00 feet), Rachael Heath placed 13th (14-01.50) and Brooke Sargent finished 20th (12-08.50).
In the girls’ high jump, Lexi Vernsey (4 feet-8 inches) placed fourth.
The girls’ javelin saw Quincy Olney place fifth (98-10) and Ellie Tuddenham finished ninth (88-03), Erika Fredericks placed 12th (81-01) and Ellie Martindale placed 18th (75-00).
In the shot put, Mandy Belknap placed 16th (28-07.00), Quincy Olney finished 23rd (26-09.50), Ellie Tuddenham placed 26th (25-09.00) and Payton Caldwell placed 38th (22-02.00).
Finally, in the girls’ discus, Erika Fredericks placed 11th (84-08), Sydney Hiatt placed 14th (77-07), Kelsey Crane finished 24th (66-05) and Emma Berg placed 31st (59-10).
For the boys, in the 110-meter hurdles, Connely Hill (17.86 seconds) placed fifth while Caleb West finished 16th (19.42), Nathaniel Foote placed 17th (19.87) and Treyson Poppinga placed 20th (20.02).
In the 100-meter dash, Kaden Smith placed 21st (12.01 seconds), Peter Meuzelaar finished 32nd (12.32 seconds), Samuel Lemon placed 38th (12.42 seconds) and Hayden Stocking finished 44th (12.74).
In the 1600-meter run, Josh Bishop placed 28th (4:51.52), Connor Weldon finished 40th (5:09.71), Jake Giles placed 42nd (5:13.37), Brock Coombs finished 47th (5:20.26) and Luke Straddeck finished 53rd (5:33.57).
In the 400-meter run, Mack Hinckley placed fourth (52.13), Matt Johnston finished 21st (56.16), Jay May placed 26th (56.70) and Carson Guymon placed 30th (57.11).
The boys’ 4 x 100 relay team placed 8th overall (47.14 seconds). This team features Kaden Smith, Hayden Stocking, Peter Meuzelaar and Connely Hill.
In the 800-meter run, Kellin Olsen placed fifth (2:01.27), Bentley Ackerson finished 12th (2:05.87), Brayden Guymon placed 19th (2:11.01), Josh Horner finished 23rd (2:12.06) and Caeden Jarvis placed 36th (2:21.03).
In the boys’ medley relay, Wasatch placed fourth (3:54.32). This team features Kaden Smith, Hayden Stocking, Carson Guymon and Josh Horner.
The 300-meter hurdles saw Connely Hill place fourth (43.21). Also, Caleb West finished 10th (45.54), Nathaniel Foote placed 16th (46.67) and Treyson Poppinga finished 19th (47.83).
In the 200-meter dash, Connely Hill placed 7th (24.18 seconds), Seth Saxton finished 14th (24.63), Kaden Smith placed 17th (24.68) and Peter Meuzelaar (25.83) placed 32nd.
Wasatch finished 3rd in the 4 x 400 (3:35.81). This team consists of Matt Johnston, Mack Hinckley, Bentley Ackerson and Kellin Olsen.
In the long jump, Robbie Shallenburger finished 18th (18-10). Carson Guymon placed 22nd (18-00.75), Kaden Webb finished 28th (17-03) and Vic Ostergaard placed 30th (16-01-00).
The high jump saw Samuel Lemon tie for 7th (5 feet-8 inches) with Highland’s Ben Nielsen.
In the boys’ javelin, Jay Nelson placed 17th (113-04). Ethan Muse placed 18th (112-09) and Parker North finished 22nd (105-10).
The boys’ shot put saw Jay Nelson finish 12th (40-06.50). Also, Braxton Turner placed 27th (36-02.50), Enrique Ferreyra finished 28th (36-00) and Seth Heaton placed 34th (34-00.50).
Finally, in the boys’ discus, Jay Nelson placed 17th (104-02), Parker North finished 24th (99-02), Seth Heaton placed 28th (90-08) and Enrique Ferreyra finished 35th (87-03).
