5A Playoffs First Round
STANSBURY PARK, Utah-Landen Giles had 16 points and the No. 9 Stansbury Stallions outlasted No. 24 Wasatch 69-65 in overtime in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs Wednesday at Stansbury High School. Wasatch Wasps head coach James Ballstaedt incurred a technical foul by calling a timeout with none left in the extra session, ending the Wasps’ best chance to pull off the upset.
Tucker Englebright had 23 points and Joe Wunder added 19 more in defeat for the Wasps, who fell to 10-15 to conclude the season.

SALEM, Utah-Ryker Richards netted 24 points and the No. 8 Salem Hills Skyhawks torpedoed No. 25 Timpanogos 80-55 Wednesday at Salem Hills High School in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs. Bron Roberts had 16 points in defeat for the Timberwolves.
WASHINGTON TERRACE, Utah-Koy Dixon keyed a balanced scoring attack with 14 points and the No. 4 Bonneville Lakers got past No. 29 Mountain View 63-55 in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs Wednesday. Sherman Stafford and Conner Fairbanks had 14 points apiece in defeat for the Bruins. Bonneville next hosts No. 20 Mountain View Friday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the 5A state playoffs.
MURRAY, Utah-Kian Langford stepped up with 16 points and the No. 20 Maple Mountain Golden Eagles upset No. 13 Cottonwood 73-60 Wednesday in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs. Robbie Yates had 15 points in the loss for the Colts.
EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah-Josh Speirs led the way with 20 points and the No. 21 Uintah Utes stunned No. 12 Cedar Valley 43-42 in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs Wednesday. Jackson Rose had 15 points for the Aviators in defeat. The Utes next visit No. 5 Alta in the second round of the state playoffs Friday.
SANDY, Utah-Jensen Campbell netted 13 points and the No. 5 Alta Hawks steamrolled No. 28 Park City 66-40 Wednesday in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs. Khai Lockwood led the Miners in defeat with 12 points.
HOLLADAY, Utah-Jack Wistrcill posted 30 points and the No. 1 Olympus Titans decimated No. 32 East 82-49 in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs Wednesday. Daniel Huntsman had 13 points in the loss for the Leopards. The Titans next host No. 16 Skyline Friday in the second round of the state playoffs.
SALT LAKE CITY-The No. 16 Skyline Eagles got past No. 17 Lehi 60-54 Wednesday in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs.
OREM, Utah-Carter Walker led the way with 22 points and the No. 2 Orem Tigers dismantled No. 31 Tooele 65-42 Wednesday in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs. Julian Mahoe had 17 points in the loss for the Buffaloes. Orem next hosts No. 15 Spanish Fork Friday in the second round of the state playoffs.
SPANISH FORK, Utah-Cade Olsen posted 16 poits and the No. 15 Spanish Fork Dons got past No. 18 Highland 52-47 in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs Wednesday at La Hacienda. Sefa Brown’s 15 points led the Rams in defeat.
BRIGHAM CITY, Utah-Mathew Low stepped up with 15 points and the No. 10 Box Elder Bees bested No. 23 Northridge 63-53 Wednesday in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs. Ben Harward had 15 points for the Knights in the loss. Box Elder next visits No. 7 Woods Cross Friday in the second round of the state playoffs.
WOODS CROSS, Utah-Mason Bendinger had 23 points and the No. 7 Woods Cross Wildcats outlasted cross-town rival, No. 26 Bountiful, 50-45 in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs Wednesday. Trevin Ostler led the Redhawks in the loss with 16 points.
PAYSON, Utah-Zachary Robbins netted 21 points and the No. 3 Payson Lions edged No. 30 Jordan 69-66 Wednesday in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs. Camden Gagnier had 25 points in defeat for the Beetdiggers. Payson next hosts No. 14 Timpview Friday in the second round of the state playoffs.
PROVO, Utah-Truman Burningham led the way with 25 points and the No. 14 Timpview Thunderbirds got past No. 19 Viewmont 70-55 in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs Wednesday. Radek Pulsipher led the Vikings in the loss with 19 points and 5 rebounds.
SPRINGVILLE, Utah-Chase Haslem netted 21 points and the No. 11 Springville Red Devils humbled No. 22 Brighton 63-49 Wednesday in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs. Nash Matheson’s game-high 23 points led the Bengals in defeat. Springville next visits No. 6 Murray Friday in the second round of the state playoffs.
MURRAY, Utah-Chudi Anosike stepped up with 19 points and the No. 6 Murray Spartans waxed No. 27 Hillcrest 72-57 in the first round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs Wednesday. Micah Madry led the Huskies in the loss with 18 points.
