OREM, Utah-Thursday, Uintah High School captured their 25th all-time 5A state wrestling title at the UCCU Center on the campus of Utah Valley University.

The Utes posted 276.5 points, narrowly edging Payson as the Lions finished second with 265 points. Wasatch was a distant third with 184 points.

Uintah has now won wrestling titles in 1958, 1959, 1968-1973, 1975-1980, 1983, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1990-1992, 1998, 1999, 2021 and 2022.

Several Wasps had a successful Thursday as Heath Clyde won the state title at 126 pounds, besting Payson’s Ethan Boulton by virtue of a 5-2 decision. His teammate, Ryder Robinson, won the individual 5A state title at 132 pounds. Robinson vanquished Cody Burr of Mountain View 10-0 in a major decision victory.
