SALT LAKE CITY (AP) —The Alpine School District is investigating possible racism and bullying on a school bus after a video surfaced on social media.
The video shows middle school children gathering around a black student while the bus is moving, per reports.
It shows students surrounding a student, with one boy referring to him as “black guy” and some poking him as he says, “stop touching me.”
In a statement, district administrators confirmed they have opened an investigation and are following their bullying policy and non-discrimination procedures.
The Utah County Sheriff’s Office has also been involved and is working to identify the students shown on the video.
“Everyone should feel protected wherever they are, especially as they are going to and from school,” sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon said.
