DALLAS-Wednesday, BYU sophomore tailback Tyler Allgeier was named as semifinalist for the prestigious Doak Walker Award.
Allgeier is among 10 semifinalists for the honor which is annually bestowed upon the top tailback in FBS football.
The native of Fontana, Calif. is tied for the national lead in rushing touchdowns (17) and ranks seventh in rushing yards (1,162) and net points (102). Allgeier has 1,317 total scrimmage yards for the Cougars this season.
Allgeier is presently ninth in school annals in career rushing yards (2,465).
Allgeier is joined by the following semifinalists for the award:
Missouri junior tailback Tyler Badie (1,584 scrimmage yards, 16 total TD’s)
Iowa State junior tailback Breece Hall (1,418 scrimmage yards, 18 total TD’s)
Ohio State freshman tailback TreVeyon Henderson (1,258 scrimmage yards, 17 total TD’s)
Texas-San Antonio junior tailback Sincere McCormick (1,262 scrimmage yards, 11 total TD’s)
Texas sophomore tailback Bijan Robinson (1,422 scrimmage yards, 15 total TD’s)
Baylor senior tailback Abram Smith (1,244 scrimmage yards, 11 total TD’s)
Syracuse sophomore tailback Sean Tucker (1,601 scrimmage yards, 13 total TD’s)
Kansas State sophomore tailback Deuce Vaughn (1,402 scrimmage yards, 16 total TD’s)
Michigan State junior tailback Kenneth Walker III (1,568 scrimmage yards, 18 total TD’s).
