LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-Monday, Utah, Utah State and BYU football placed assistant coaches as semifinalists for the Frank Broyles Award.
This award is named in honor of former University of Arkansas men’s athletic director Frank Broyles and honors the best assistant coach in FBS football.
BYU offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Aaron Roderick, Utah State passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach Kyle Cefalo and Utah offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Andy Ludwig are the semifinalists from their respective programs.
Roderick’s contributions have helped the Cougars post 33.3 points per game (34th nationally) and 451.3 yards per contest (19th nationally).
Cefalo has helped the Aggies post 33.4 points per game, tying them with UCLA for 32nd nationally in scoring offense. Utah State is 14th nationally in yards per game as well, at 467 yards per contest.
Ludwig has helped the Utes post 35.7 points per game (19th nationally) and 438.1 yards per contest (35th nationally).
Last season’s winner was Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian. Sarkisian is currently the head coach at Texas.
