Wednesday covid 19 report for Utah

SALT LAKE CITY-Wednesday, covid-19 statistics were updated for Utah by the state department of health.

Since statistics began being kept, there have been 47,521 recorded cases of covid-19. This is an increase of 364 and a net increase of 99 in the same span.

Presently, 610,362 Utahns have been tested for covid-19. This is an increase of 3,846 Utahns in the past 24 hours.

This increased the positive test percentage to 7.78 percent. The 24-hour positive test percentage increased to 9.46 percent Wednesday. Tuesday, this figure was at 5.57 percent.

There are currently 38,883 recoveries from covid-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 328 in the past 24 hours and a net decrease of 95 in the same span. This caused the recovery percentage in the Beehive State to increase to 81.82 percent. Tuesday, this was at 81.75 percent.

Because new cases exceeded recoveries, this caused the differential between the two to increase to 8,638. This is a net increase of 36 in the past 24 hours.

There are also 28 new active cases as reflected in Wednesday’s report. This increases the active cases in Utah to 8,261. However, the active case percentage dropped to 17.38 percent Wednesday. Tuesday, this number was at 17.45 percent.

The differential between recovered and active cases increased to 30,622 Wednesday. This is a net increase of 300.

Since statistics began being kept, there have been 2,832 recorded hospitalizations for covid-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 28 in the past 24 hours.

The current hospitalizations increased by five in the past 24 hours (139). This caused the current hospitalization percentage to increase to 4.908 percent Wednesday.

Tuesday, this figure was at 4.77 percent.

Of  the 139 hospitalized, 63 are in ICU (a net increase of two in the past 24 hours). This, however, caused the ICU percentage to drop to 45.32 percent Wednesday. Tuesday, this was at 45.5 percent.

Presently, 63 percent of ICU in Utah is occupied.

There have been 377 deaths attributed to covid-19 in Utah. This represents an increase of 8 in the past 24 hours.

This increased the death percentage to 0.793 percent. Tuesday, this was at 0.782 percent.

There was one new recorded case of covid-19 in Wasatch County in the past 24 hours. This increases the net case total to 601 in Wasatch County. The hospitalizations (26) increased by two in the past 24 hours.

There have been four deaths attributed to covid-19 in Wasatch County since statistics began being kept. This number remains unchanged in the past 24 hours.

The most recent death attributed to covid-19 in Wasatch County occurred July 6.
