SALT LAKE CITY-Friday, the covid-19 statistics for Utah were updated by the state department of health.
Since statistics began being kept for the virus in the Beehive State, there have been 36,962 recorded cases.
This is an increase of 863 cases in the past 24 hours and a net increase of 342 cases in the same span.
There have been 494,071 people tested in Utah for covid-19. This is an increase of 8,649 tests in the past 24 hours.
This increased the overall positive test percentage to 8.32 percent. This number was at 7.43 percent Thursday. The 8.32 percent represents a new state record for Utah.
The 24-hour positive test percentage dropped to 9.97 percent Friday. Thursday, this number was at 12.96 percent.
There have been 23,715 recoveries from covid-19 in the Beehive State since statistics began being kept. This is an increase of 622 in the past 24 hours and a net increase of 61 recoveries in the same span.
Presently, 64.16 percent of all covid-19 cases in Utah are recovered.
There are currently 12,975 active cases of covid-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 235 active cases in the past 24 hours and a net increase of 145 active cases in the same span.
This caused the active case percentage in Utah to drop to 35.103 percent.
There are presently 10,740 more recovered cases than active cases in the Beehive State. This represents an increase of 387 recoveries in the past 24 hours.
Since statistics have been kept, there have been 2,188 recorded hospitalizations in Utah. This is a net increase of 38 in the past 24 hours.
Current hospitalizations increased by 15 in the past 24 hours to 225 current hospitalizations. This increased the current covid-19 hospitalization percentage to 10.28 percent. This past week, the current hospitalization percentage has hovered around 9 percent.
The ICU current hospitalizations for covid-19 dropped by one in the past 24 hours to 97. This caused the ICU current hospitalization percentage to drop to 43.1 percent. Thursday, this was at 46.66 percent.
There were six new deaths in Utah attributed to covid-19 in the past 24 hours, increasing the death total to 273.
This dropped Utah’s overall death percentage to 0.738. Thursday, this number was at 0.739 percent.
Wasatch County saw 10 new recorded cases of covid-19 in the past 24 hours, increasing the net case total to 508.
The hospitalizations (20) and deaths (4) remained unchanged in Wasatch County in the past 24 hours.
The most recent death attributed to covid-19 in Wasatch County occurred July 6.
