LOGAN, Utah-Logan-based nonprofit organization Citizens Against Physical and Sexual Abuse reports that during the COVID-19 era, domestic abuse cases are rising.
CAPSA executive director Jill Anderson reports “phenomenal” increases in domestic violence cases are occurring in Cache and Rich counties. Anderson called the numbers in these counties higher than they have ever been.
Because of COVID-19 restrictions, CAPSA has been forced to reduce its capacity by half, meaning the nonprofit can only use 16 beds for victims of domestic violence.
Staff members have also been forced to work extra hours and implement technology to help where possible.
