SALT LAKE CITY-Monday, COVID-19 statistics were updated for the state of Utah by the Utah Department of Health.
Since statistics began being kept, there have been 14,608 cases of the virus in the Beehive State.
This is an increase of 295 cases from Sunday’s totals, but a net decrease of 37 cases in the past 24 hours.
There are presently 8,330 recovered cases of COVID-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 128 from Sunday’s totals but -10 in the net decrease in the past 24 hours.
There are currently 6,085 active cases of COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 163 from Sunday’s totals, but a net decrease of 31 in the past 24 hours.
Presently, 57.36 percent of COVID-19 cases in Utah are recovered and 41.65 cases of the virus are active.
Currently, 272,938 tests for COVID-19 have been administered in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 5,225 tests from Sunday’s totals. This caused the overall positive test percentage to slightly increase to 5.35 percent but in the past 24 hours, the positive test percentage slipped from 6.7 percent to 5.6 percent.
Since statistics began being kept in Utah, 1,041 hospitalizations have occurred. This is an increase of 13 from Sunday’s totals. However, there remain 137 current hospitalizations as was the case on Sunday. This caused the current hospitalization percentage to drop to 13.16 percent.
There have been 143 deaths from COVID-19 in Utah since statistics began being kept. This is an increase of four from Sunday’s totals.
Two of these deaths were residents of Washington County, men who passed away at the time of hospitalization. One was between the ages of 18 and 60 and the other was between the ages of 60 and 85.
The third death was a San Juan County man between the ages of 18 and 60 who passed away as he was hospitalized.
The fourth death was a man from Salt Lake County between the ages of 60 and 85 who was a long-term healthcare resident.
The death rate for COVID-19 cases remains below 1 percent in Utah as of Monday’s report.
In Wasatch County, one hospitalization was taken off of the records as there were 17 hospitalizations Sunday but Monday’s statistics reflect that there have only been 16 hospitalizations.
There are two new cases of COVID-19 in Wasatch County Monday, bringing the net total of cases to 351. There remain two deaths from COVID-19 of Wasatch County residents. The most recent of these deaths occurred May 31.
