2 Dead After Accident Near Little Sahara

JERICHO, Utah-Two are dead after an accident near Little Sahara Monument in Juab County last Saturday.

These were two family members of the first female mayor of Salt Lake County, Nancy Workman, who had traveled to Juab County to spread her ashes after she passed away.

80-year-old Vern Workman and 78-year-old Betty Workman died after this crash per Juab County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Brent Pulver.

The two were driving to an area near Little Sahara Recreation Area to spread the ashes of Nancy Workman who passed away May 3.

Vern and Betty Workman, each of Sandy, drove to the area on the Weis Highway in Juab County around 10:50 am Saturday, Pulver said.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area, confirming a 2000 Ford F-350 had gone off the road via a curve as the driver had over-corrected, causing the truck to roll over.

Both occupants suffered critical injuries and were flown to hospitals in medical helicopters, Pulver said.

Each of them later died from their injuries and it is not clear on what day they died.

The two were the only people in the truck and no other vehicles were involved, according to Pulver.

Nancy Workman, a Republican, served as Salt Lake County mayor from 2000-2004.
