SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday, the Indianapolis-based NCAA confirmed its College Basketball Academy will not be coming to Salt Lake City.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, college sports’ governing body has canceled this event originally slated for July 20-26 in four regional sites of which the University of Utah was to be the host of the west regional.
This is a developmental camp for scouting and recruiting, specifically for the classes of 2021, 2022 and 2023.
The NCAA’s current recruiting dead period lasts through May 31. Coaches are requesting this dead period be extended through July 31.
CEDAR CITY, Utah-The 2020 Larry H. Miller Summer Games, hosted annually by Southern Utah University in Cedar City, have been canceled. They were to start June 1. Per a press release, athletes who have already registered for the 2020 Games will receive a full refund. The Summer Games, hosted by Cedar City and SUU since 1986, average 10,000 athletes and 30,000 spectators annually.
CEDAR CITY, Utah-The Utah Shakespeare Festival has been canceled because of COVID-19. This had been revised and scheduled for July 9-September 5, but there were “too many obstacles” that prevented organizers from staging the event. Those who purchased tickets will be offered full refunds and will have the option to roll their tickets into the 2021 season. Ticket holders may call 1-800-PLAYTIX for more information or they can wait to hear from festival staff members.
