Police Identify 87-Year-Old Man Killed In SLC Auto-Pedestrian Crash

SALT LAKE CITY-Monday, Salt Lake City Police identified an 87-year-old man who died after being hit by a vehicle in a crosswalk on South Temple Saturday.

George Story was in a crosswalk at 600 E. South Temple when he was struck by a vehicle per Salt Lake City Police Lt. Brian Sloan

Story and the driver did not see each other, Sloan said, as the driver cooperated with police.

Witnesses could not recall if the “walk” light was on when the man was crossing, Sloan continued.

Sloan reminded both drivers and pedestrians to be cautious when crossing the street or driving past a crosswalk.

This area was expected to be closed for about two hours when the scene was cleared.

As of Saturday, no citations had been issued and Sloan said alcohol was ruled out as a factor.
