MONTICELLO, Utah-Sunday evening, a woman died after crashing head-on into another vehicle on U.S. Highway 191 six miles north of Monticello, authorities confirmed.
The crash occurred just before 10:00 pm per a news release from the Utah Highway Patrol.
The woman was driving northbound in a Chevrolet Tahoe behind a Ford F-350 hauling a 25-foot trailer per UHP authorities.
The woman tried to pass the pickup truck in a no-pass zone and collided head-on with a Dodge Ram headed southbound per the release.
The impact pushed the Tahoe into the F-350’s trailer and the Tahoe, F-350 and the trailer veered off the shoulder on the northbound side of the road.
The release also stated the Ram came to a stop in the southbound lanes after the accident.
The woman driving the Tahoe died at the scene and a 2-year-old in the Tahoe suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
A driver and passenger in the Ram were also taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. All five occupants of the F-350 were treated for injuries and released at the crash scene.
No one involved in the crash was identified. As of Monday morning, authorities were still working to notify family members of the woman who passed away.
Investigators worked throughout the night to process the crash scene while crews planned to return Monday for further investigation.
