JUAB COUNTY, Utah-Officials with U.S. Bureau of Land Management announced they plan to reopen Little Sahara Recreation Area May 13.

Little Sahara, which consists of 60,000 acres of sagebrush flats, juniper-covered hills and free-moving sand dunes has been closed since March 26.

Officials said the area may see up to 30,000 visitors during busy spring weekends. The weekend before the area was closed, an estimated 15,000 people visited the area.

BLM officials said current Little Sahara season passes will be extended to two months because of the previous closure.

Little Sahara Recreation Area will reopen on Weds, May 13 following updates to COVID-19-related restrictions that the State of UT and the Central UT Public Health Department implemented.
