Utah Sees 122 Additional Cases of COVID-19, 2 New Deaths

SALT LAKE CITY-Friday, the Utah Department of Health released updated data from Thursday concerning new COVID-19 cases in the Beehive State.

There are presently 2,805 positive tests for COVID-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 122 from Thursday’s numbers.

However, the positive percentage rate dropped from 5.4 percent to 5.02 percent as 6,093 Utahns were tested for the disease from Thursday-Friday. There are presently 55,771 total COVID-19 tests in the Beehive State that have occurred.

There are now 244 hospitalizations in Utah, with six new hospitalizations from Thursday’s numbers.

Two new deaths occurred in Utah from Thursday-Friday as the fatality total from this disease rose to 23.

Both of the deaths reported are from San Juan County, per a news release from the health department.

One was a woman over the age of 60 and the other one was a man under the age of 60. Each of them had underlying medical conditions.

Friday is also the first day that negative tests from TestUtah were implemented into the tally. The negative tests represented 3,388 of the 6,093 total tests conducted in the Beehive State over the course of the past 24 hours.

Wasatch County presently has 103 cases of COVID-19 with 5 hospitalizations and one death.
