HEBER CITY, Utah-Monday evening, Heber Valley Radio’s own Rachel Kahler played a key role in a Heber City council meeting.
The topic primarily discussed this week was the SB-95 update. This consists of an $8 million budget, with $4.6 million on-going and $3.4 million one time.
The application opening is slated for mid-May 2020 and funding is expected by July 2020.
This is a two-part bill. “Part A” consists of an opportunity for non-competitive rural counties being able to apply for up to $200,000 as well as:
-a 30 percent match
-100 percent distribution in July 2020
-reports due in September 2021
“Part B” is competitive. This allows:
-application for an additional $600,000
-a 30 percent match
-distribution is 75 percent/25 percent
-reports due in September 2021
Qualifications for the bill include being on the county economic development advisory board or a CED board composed of at least the following members appointed by the county legislative body. Other qualifications are as follows:
-a county representative
-a representative of a municipality in the county
-a workforce development representative
-a private-sector representative and
-a member of a public who lives in the county.
The county legislative body may also appoint additional members with experience or expertise in economic development matters.
In appointing members of the CED board, the county legislative body may consider gender and/or socioeconomic diversity.
