SALT LAKE CITY-Sunday, the Utah Division of Emergency Management narrowed the alert areas for Utah Governor Gary Herbert’s mandatory text messages for out-of-state traffic near ports of entry to the Beehive State.

The alert areas for these messages has been limited to prevent spillover into residential areas near St. George and Vernal.

In a statement Sunday, Utah Emergency declared adjustments are being made to this system daily in hopes of limiting spillover in areas the text messages were never intended to extend to.
