Salt Lake City Felon Kidnaps, Assaults Pregnant Woman

SALT LAKE CITY-A 20-year-old Salt Lake City man is facing three felonies after police say he assaulted and kidnapped a pregnant woman with a pistol before telling her he was going to Idaho to kill her and bury her body.

Salt Lake City Police say Israel Jesus Rosales pulled a black handgun out of a red bag, pointing it at the woman before pistol-whipping her in the head and arms.

Authorities confirm the woman fought back, causing Rosales to drop the gun.

Rosales then punched her repeatedly and police said Rosales planned to kill and bury her before she jumped out of the vehicle to escape.

Rosales then allegedly yelled at the woman that if she didn’t get back in the vehicle, he would kill her.

The woman ran to the nearest home to call 911 after which Rosales fled the scene.

Police documented several large bruises on the woman’s body.

Rosales is facing charges of aggravated kidnapping (first-degree felony), aggravated assault (third-degree felony) and possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person (second-degree felony).
