SALT LAKE COUNTY-Friday, a Unified Fire Authority firefighter tested positive for COVID-19 per a report from officials.

It is unknown how this firefighter contracted the virus while on the shift.

Presently, there are 10 employees who have had direct contact with this patient.

UFA officials say all of them have tested negative for COVID-19.

Two weeks ago, the department implemented a policy to screen staff frequently, usually within 12-hour increments.

Health screenings are mandatory at all UFA sites.
