SALT LAKE CITY-In a statement released by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Friday, much of Temple Square is closed to the public.
The Salt Lake City-based faith is closing 10 Church-owned buildings in and around Temple Square.
These closures are in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
This list currently consists of the Church Office Building, the Conference Center, Assembly Hall and the Tabernacle.
Construction on the Salt Lake Temple will continue at this time as will operations at Welfare Square. However, for the time being, tours will not be conducted at Welfare Square.
Both the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and Lion House remain open to the public at this time.
Church leaders, employees and staff continue to have access to their offices and workplaces, per a news release.
The restaurants on the property also remain open, except for The Roof. It is presently being closed for remodeling.
This decision means a temporary suspension for tours of the Tabernacle and access to the observation deck and other areas of the Conference Center and Church Office Building.
Also closed are the Family History Library, the Church History Museum and the Church History Library as well as the Beehive House, the North Visitors’ Center and the Relief Society Building.
