Salt Lake City/ St. George/ Cedar City US Representative Proposes First Bill In D.C.

(Washington, D.C.) — New congresswoman Celeste Maloy representing Utah’s second district is sponsoring her first bill in D.C. The Southern Utah University graduate is looking to reduce hydropower rates that are affected by the current drought. Maloy is proposing the Hydro Act, which would stabilize utility costs for hydropower for those most effected. Due to the drought, energy levels have been lower causing the Bureau of Reclamation to fail to produce a contracted amount of electricity. Arizona Senators Mark Kelley and Krysten Sinema are partnering with Maloy on the bill.
