SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday morning, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the groundbreaking dates of two temples:

The Ephraim Utah Temple will have a groundbreaking ceremony Saturday August 27.

Elder Walter F. Gonzalez of the Quorum of the Seventy will preside at this event.

This is to be constructed on a 9.16-acre site at 200 North and 400 East in Ephraim. Plans are calling for a three-story temple consisting of approximately 39,000 feet.

Groundbreaking for the Lubumbashi Democratic Republic of the Congo Temple is slated for August 20. Presiding at this event will be Elder Matthew L. Carpenter, the president of the Africa Central Area of the Church.

This will be the second temple in this country. The temple dedicated at Kinshasa, the Congolese capital, was dedicated April 14, 2019 by Elder Dale G. Renlund of The Quorum of Twelve Apostles.

In the DRC, there are presently 89,136 Latter-day Saints in 25 stakes and 255 congregations.

Attendance at these respective ceremonies will be by invitation only.
