SALT LAKE CITY-Per Monday news, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the rededication of its temple at Hamilton, New Zealand.
The ceremony is slated for October 16, 2022 while the rededication will be performed by Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles.
Three dedicatory sessions will occur, slated at 9:00 am, 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
The Salt Lake City-based faith will conduct a media day August 22, 2022 followed by private tours for invited guests from August 23-25, 2022.
Members of the public are invited to tour the temple Friday August 26-Saturday September 17, 2022, with the exception of Sundays (August 28, September 4 and September 11).
A youth devotional is slated for Saturday October 15, 2022.
The temple was originally dedicated April 20-22, 1958 by then-Church president David O. McKay.
It has been closed since July 2018 for extensive renovation.
Presently, this is the only temple in New Zealand although a temple is under construction in Auckland, New Zealand.
April 3, during General Conference, Church President Russell M. Nelson announced a temple for the capital city of Wellington.
