The Salt Lake City-based faith is also creating a new mission in Spain. The Spain Madrid North Mission will include areas from the existing Spain Madrid and Spain Barcelona Missions.

The England Bristol Mission will also be reinstated. It will be taken from portions of the England Birmingham and England London Missions. This will also cause the boundaries of the England Lees Mission to be realigned.

President Kevin E. Gallacher and his wife, Janine, will be reassigned to preside over the England Bristol Mission. They had been presiding over the England Birmingham Mission.

President Adam West and his wife, Heather, will assume leadership of the England Birmingham Mission. President Christopher L. Eastland and his wife, Trista, will preside over the Spain Madrid North Mission.

These changes will be made July 1, as is customary for all missions in the Church annually.

Friday, the Church also opened a new meetinghouse in downtown Salt Lake City. This is located only a block from Temple Square and will serve as both a meetinghouse for Latter-day Saints and as a commercial office tower.

This 39,000-square foot four-story meetinghouse is located on 95 State Street and has a separate entrance from the office tower.

The original structure, known as Social Hall, was constructed in 1852 under the direction of then-Church President Brigham Young.

The original social hall was used until 1922. Church leaders have officially named this building the Social Hall Avenue Meetinghouse.

A public open house will occur April 9 from 10:00 am-3:00 pm. It will be dedicated Sunday April 10 with the ceremony being conducted by Utah Area president, Elder Kevin W. Pearson.
