Region 9

HEBER CITY, Utah-Chett Wilson and Jackson Bolender each had a pair of RBI and the Wasatch Wasps routed Maple Mountain 8-2 Thursday in Region 9 baseball play. Jackson Kelson earned the win on the mound for the Wasps, netting 10 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. This was Wasatch’s second win of the season and their first in both Region 9 play and against fellow 5A competition. The Wasps look for their second consecutive win Friday afternoon as they travel to Maple Mountain High School at Spanish Fork for the second game in the series.

Softball

Region 9

SPRINGVILLE, Utah-Caroline Simpson and Allie Fowler each drove in a pair of runs and the Springville Red Devils edged Wasatch 6-5 in Region 9 softball play Thursday.

Ryann Haveron earned the win in the circle for the Red Devils, posting five strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work.

Andrea Sweat had a pair of RBI in the loss for the Wasps.

Wasatch returns to action Friday by visiting Class 6A Farmington.

Boys Soccer

Region 9

HEBER CITY, Utah-Beto Vargas scored twice and Aiden Rowser also found the net as the Wasatch Wasps blanked Spanish Fork 3-0 Thursday in Region 9 boys soccer action. Jackson Medina recorded the shutout for the Wasps.
