Frank Mason III and Devonte Graham dropped in 26 points apiece as top seed Kansas blasted Purdue, 98-66. Tyler Dorsey capped his 20-point night by nailing the go-ahead layup with 1:08 left to lead third seed Oregon past Michigan, 69-68.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Tomorrow’s NCAA West Regional final will have No. 1 Gonzaga against 11th seed Xavier. Jordan Mathews scored 13 points and hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with under a minute left as the Bulldogs escaped with a 61-58 triumph over No. 4 West Virginia. Trevon Bluiett (BLOO-iht) scored 25 points and Sean O’Mara scored inside with 40 seconds left to send the Musketeers past No. 2 Arizona, 73-71.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Georgetown has fired men’s basketball coach John Thompson III following back-to-back losing seasons in which he went 29-36. The Hoyas ended this season on a six-game losing streak to finish 14-18, the team’s worst winning percentage since 1971-72. Thompson’s record at Georgetown was 278-151 with eight trips to the NCAA Tournament and a berth in the 2007 Final Four.

NEW YORK (AP) — NFL owners will consider several rules changes at the annual meeting next week in Phoenix. Among the agenda items are proposals cutting regular-season overtime from 15 minutes to 10, eliminating players leaping over the line of scrimmage on kick plays and expanding video challenges and what can be reviewed by officials. The meeting also will include a discussion of the Raiders’ potential relocation from Oakland to Las Vegas.

UNDATED (AP) — The NHL has handed down suspensions to Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen (rihs-toh-LAY’-nehn) and Maple Leafs blueliner Roman Polak. Ristolainen got a three-game ban for his blindside hit that led to Penguins forward Jake Guentzel sustaining a concussion in Tuesday’s game. Polak has been suspended two games for boarding Blue Jackets forward Oliver Bjorkstrand during Wednesday’s 4-2 win by Toronto.
