Mid-Utah Radio announced the winners of its Winter Sports Athletes of the Year awards Friday morning during Morning Talk on KSVC 980 AM and 100.5 FM.
The radio group honored 10 central and south-central Utah high school athletes from six different schools with the awards. The nominated athletes that were up for the awards came from 15 different high schools and athletes could have been nominated from 18 high schools throughout central and south-central Utah.
Mid-Utah Radio weighted the votes cast with 40 percent of the total coming from both the coaches in their respective sports and Mid-Utah Radio broadcasters. The final 20 percent came from the fans, who voted at “Mid-Utah Radio Sports”:http://www.midutahradiosports.com/awards.html
Fans had one week to vote and when the voting closed Thursday the fans had cast 2,899 votes.
Two of this year’s winners won the same award last year. The Girls Basketball Player of the Year for the second year in a row is Peyton Torgerson of North Sevier.
The Boys Swimmer of the Year for the second year in a row is Jayden Grose of Millard.
