RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Jace Eyre posted 21 points and 10 rebounds, while making 7 of 9 shots, as the Panguitch Bobcats shot a blistering 70 percent (21-30) for the game in smacking Valley 63-39 Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center to capture the 1-A state championship. The Bobcats, among the most storied programs in Utah boys basketball history, amassed their sixth state title Saturday but the first since 2001. Additionally, rising star, sophomore Acey Orton, added 15 points and 6 rebounds on a perfect 7-7 from the field. In defeat, the Buffaloes shot 21.6 percent for the game and were led by Cobe Reck’s 15 points.

RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Nick Jarman amassed 14 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks as the Rich Rebels placed third at the 1-A state tournament by routing Bryce Valley 51-36 Saturday afternoon at the Sevier Valley Center. Austyn Brinkerhoff posted 14 points and 8 rebounds in defeat for the Mustangs.

RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Isaac Dillon made a 3-pointer as time expired to give Merit a thrilling 55-53 win over Wayne to capture fifth place at the 1-A state tournament Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center. Alessandro Guzzom had 22 points for the Knights in the win. In defeat, Zane Taylor posted 16 points and 10 rebounds on 6-9 shooting from the field to pace the Badgers.

RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Ryan Westwood posted 18 points and 9 rebounds on 8-12 shooting as the Piute Thunderbirds won the 1-A boys consolation championship by routing Parowan 52-34 Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center. Mason Morgan had 12 points as well for the Thunderbirds in the win. Jarrin Church posted 11 points on 3-5 shooting for the Rams in defeat, who will return to 2-A as soon as spring sports conclude. Westwood, incidentally, ends the 1-A tournament by making 18 of his last 25 shots from the field (a 72 percent clip).
