RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Future Southern Utah women’s basketball player Peyton Torgerson posted 18 points and 9 rebounds and Hailey Higgs had a team-high 19 as the North Sevier Wolves outlasted Emery 49-45 in overtime to win the 2-A state girls championship. The Wolves overcame a 42-38 deficit with 1:03 left in the 4th Quarter and went on an 11-5 run from there to take the state title. Emery’s Megan Jensen was magnificent in defeat, amassing 26 points and 12 rebounds in the loss for the Spartans.
RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Sydnee Gillins had 16 points while making 5-7 shots only hours after sustaining a terrible head injury Friday night to lead Beaver to a 50-35 win over Kanab and claim third in the 2-A girls state tournament at the Sevier Valley Center. Nixan Davis added 12 more points in the win for the Beavers. KC Houston’s 17 points led Kanab in the loss.
RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Anne Marie Winters posted 12 points on 4-6 from behind the arc and Elise Richins added 11 more as the North Summit Braves placed fifth at the 2-A state tournament with a 54-46 win over Enterprise at the Sevier Valley Center Saturday. Ronnie Robinson had 12 points and 5 rebounds in the loss for the Wolves.
LOGAN, Utah (AP)-Becca Curran’s 15 points led the way as the Juan Diego Soaring Eagle edged Richfield 34-32 to capture the 3-A state girls championship Saturday at the Spectrum on the campus of Utah State University. Shandi Bastian had 10 points in the loss for the Wildcats.

RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Pedro Silva posted 12 points on 6-8 from the field and the Layton Christian Eagles routed Waterford 59-41 to take the 2-A state championship Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center. Jackson Sponaugle’s 14 points led the Ravens in the loss.
RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Tyler Coleman netted 25 points and 8 rebounds and the North Summit Braves outlasted Summit Academy 64-59 to take third place in the 2-A boys state tournament Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center. Dylan Marston had 20 points and 11 boards in the loss for the Bears.
RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Koby Butler posted 16 points and 15 rebounds as the Emery Spartans blasted South Sevier 57-39 to place fifth at the 2-A state tournament Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center. Kaetz King had 11 points in the loss for the Rams.
CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP)-Cooper Williams’ 15 points led the way as the Wayne Badgers overpowered Piute 51-42 Saturday in the consolation bracket at the Region 20 tournament at Canyon View High School. Beau Sylvester had 15 points in the loss for the Thunderbirds. By virtue of Panguitch’s 65-50 win over Valley in the championship game, the Bobcats are Region 20’s #1 seed headed into Wednesday’s 1-A state tournament at the Sevier Valley Center. Valley, of course, is the #2 seed and Parowan is the #3 seed by virtue of the Rams’ victory over Bryce Valley Saturday afternoon. Thus, the Buffaloes and Rams have also earned automatic bids into Wednesday’s state tournament. Bryce Valley, Piute and Wayne will be forced to win Tuesday play-in games at Richfield High School in order to advance to the tournament.
