RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Christians Gutierrez posted 20 points, making all eight of his field goal attempts and all four of his free throws as Layton Christian upset South Sevier 57-47 Thursday in the 2-A state boys quarterfinals at the Sevier Valley Center. Buddy Gardner had 14 points and 7 rebounds in the loss for the Rams. Layton Christian next meets Summit Academy in the first of two boys semifinals Friday at 7:30 pm at the Sevier Valley Center. South Sevier draws Grand Friday at 12:50 pm in the consolation bracket. The Red Devils lost 65-40 to Summit in the first game of the day.
RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Parker Law posted 13 points and 11 rebounds and Jackson Sponaugle added 12 more points as Waterford outlasted South Summit 53-49 to advance to the boys’ 2-A semifinals in a Thursday win at the Sevier Valley Center. Nicholas Beasley, Kia Rockhill and Jackson Lashee had 9 points apiece in the loss for the Wildcats.
RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Calvin Hunsaker netted 18 points while shooting 8-10 from the field, including the game-clinching layup, and the North Summit Braves bested Emery 56-51 Thursday in the 2-A boys quarterfinals at the Sevier Valley Center. In so doing, the Braves earned the final berth in the 2-A semifinals and will face Waterford Friday at 9:10 pm in the nightcap for that evening’s action. Koby Butler had 22 points and 10 rebounds on 8-12 shooting in the loss for the Spartans, only their third loss of the season.

RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Peyton Torgerson posted 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists while Hailey Higgs added 13 points and 8 boards on 5-7 shooting as the North Sevier Wolves bested North Summit 48-42 in the 2-A girls quarterfinals at the Sevier Valley Center Thursday. Ashlin Blonquist had 13 points in the loss for the Braves, suffering only their second loss of the season. The Wolves will next play Friday at 4:10 pm in the girls’ semifinals at the Sevier Valley Center.
RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Sidney McDonald had 14 points and Kanab routed San Juan 63-32 in the 2-A girls quarterfinals Thursday at the Sevier Valley Center. Delaney Palmer’s 8 points led the Broncos in defeat. Kanab next draws North Sevier Friday at 4:10 pm in the girls’ semifinals from the Sevier Valley Center.

Damyale Thomas had 11 points in the loss to pace the Eagles. Up next for Beaver is a trip to the 2-A state semifinals Friday at 5:50 pm at the Sevier Valley Center.
RICHFIELD, Utah (AP)-Megan Jensen had 8 points and 16 crucial rebounds as the Emery Spartans outlasted Enterprise 33-25 in the 2-A girls quarterfinals nightcap Thursday at the Sevier Valley Center. Halle Drake had 8 points and 7 rebounds in the loss for the Wolves. Enterprise shot only 9 of 53 (17 percent) for the game in the loss. Emery next faces Beaver Friday at 5:50 pm in the second of two girls semifinals at the Sevier Valley Center.
