*Boys Basketball*
ORDERVILLE, Utah (AP)-Ike Stout’s 19 points led the way as the Valley Buffaloes routed Escalante 87-38 Saturday in Region 20 boys basketball action. Kai Griffin posted 12 points in the loss for the Moquis.
*Girls Basketball*
MOAB, Utah (AP)-Veda Gritts netted 14 points and the Grand Red Devils humbled Manti 43-32 in Region 15 girls basketball action Saturday. Leah Howe had 17 points in the loss for the Templars.
OREM, Utah (AP)-Ashton Seely amassed the 3-A state championship in the 195-pound division, winning his fourth individual state title and helping his Juab Wasps take the team wrestling crown at the state wrestling championships Saturday at Utah Valley University.
The Wasps netted 242.5 points overall, as they were galvanized by individual championships from Gentry Warner at 120 pounds, Jayce Lind at 126 pounds and Dylan White at 285 pounds. Incidentally, this was Warner’s second consecutive state championship.
In 2-A, Delta took the state championship, netting 283 points and winning its 34th state wrestling title in state history. The Rabbits honored the ghosts of the past by getting individual state titles from Brady Poulsen (120 pounds), Jason Hatch (160 pounds), Dallin Ewart (170 pounds), Jantsen Manis (220 pounds) and Bradden Davis (285 pounds).
The dynastic Rabbits have now won eight state wrestling championships in the past nine seasons.
Other individual state champions included Millard’s Van Bray at 106 pounds, Dillon Torgerson of North Sevier at 113 pounds, Shawn Sorenson of North Sevier at 132 pounds, South Sevier’s Payton Knight at 138 pounds and Tyce Raddon of Beaver at 182 pounds.
