Former Juab QB Nick Robins to Transfer to Snow

Nick Robins a former quarterback for the Juab Wasps announced on Twitter Wednesday that he would be transferring from Southern Utah University to Snow College.

Robins redshirted last fall for the SUU football team and still has four years of eligibility remaining. He said that coaching changes at both schools contributed to his decision to transfer.

“After I signed at SUU, coach [Ed] Lamb left for BYU,” Robins said. “SUU was just not the right fit for me once coach Lamb left.

“[Snow College] coach [Paul] Peterson is so awesome,” Robins added. “When he called me I feel like we instantly connected. He was a big reason why I chose Snow College.”

Getting the chance to learn under a former Badger All-American in coach Peterson was also enticing.

“To play for a former great quarterback at Snow will be awesome,” Robins said. “I’m just excited to get into this great program and compete.

Playing time is another factor that weighed heavily on the decision Robins made to transfer.

“I was told I might not get an opportunity to play until later in my career at SUU,” he said. “I am an ultra competitor and I want to play and help someone win a championship.”

Coaches and playing time weren’t the only factors Robins looked at when deciding where to transfer. His small town roots in central Utah played a part.

“I can’t wait to be closer to home,” he said. “I had some out of state schools I was looking to go to, but having Snow in my backyard is huge. My whole family will be able to come watch me play and that makes me really happy.”

Robins also said he wants to represent the town of Nephi and Ephraim well.

While at Juab Robins led the Wasps to the 3A State Championship game in 2014 where they lost to Judge Memorial and he finished his career with 4,331 passing yards and 61 touchdowns to just 14 interceptions.

Snow College is coming off 6-4 season where “two wins had to be forfeited due to an ineligible player”:http://midutahradio.com/stories/34766-snow-football-program-forfeits-two-games-played-during-2016-season .

Justin Miller was the quarterback for Snow last fall and is expected to return after throwing for 1,859 yards with 17 touchdowns to 10 interceptions.

Snow college football games can be heard once again this year on KMTI 650 AM & 95.1 FM with Mike Traina on the call.
