OGDEN, Utah-Monday, Weber State freshman tailback Josh Davis was named as the FCS STATS freshman of the week for his contributions in the Wildcats’ 24-17 win over Cal Poly last Saturday.
Davis ran for a career-high 177 yards and two touchdowns in his second career FCS game. He had a run of 60 yards as well as scoring runs of three and five yards.
His 177 yards are the most for a Wildcats’ tailback in a game since C.J. Tuckett in 2012.
Davis signed with Weber State in February 2017 after a stellar career at Alta High School. In his senior season for the Hawks, he set a Utah high school state record for all-purpose yards with 3,825 yards.
He played in the Wildcats’ season opener in 2017 before suffering a season-ending injury.
