SALT LAKE CITY-Wednesday, BYU (8-2) and Weber State (3-2) men’s basketball meet at Vivint Smart Home Arena as the Wildcats play their final non-conference game of the season.
Presently, the Wildcats score 79.6 points per game, tying them for 77th nationally in scoring offense with Wright State.
Weber State surrenders 68.6 points per game, ranking them 149th nationally in scoring defense.
Senior guard Isiah Brown (21.2 points, 4.2 rebounds per game) is the Wildcats’ leading scorer. Brown’s 19 assists also lead the squad.
Other Wildcats to score in double figures include senior forward/center Cody Carlson (14.2 points per game) and junior guard/forward Zahir Porter (13 points per game).
Czech national, senior forward Michal Kozak, leads the Wildcats on the glass with 6.4 rebounds per contest and 9 blocks.
Freshman forward Dillon Jones leads Weber State with 14 steals.
In his 15th season at Weber State, Randy Rahe is 281-175 (.616) as the Wildcats’ head coach, having led the squad to three NCAA Tournament appearances and five Big Sky Conference titles.
The Wildcats rank 14th nationally in free throw percentage, at 79.84 percent. Brown (85 percent), Porter (83 percent) and Kozak (80 percent) all exceed 80 percent at the foul line.
The Cougars average 78.1 points per game, ranking them 90th nationally in scoring offense.
BYU gives up 66.2 points per contest, ranking them 103rd nationally in scoring defense.
Senior guard Alex Barcello leads the Cougars with 17.4 points per game, while also posting 4.8 rebounds per contest. Barcello’s 48 assists also lead BYU on the season.
Senior guard Brandon Averette (10.6 points) and Dutch national, senior forward/center Matt Haarms (10.5 points) per game also score in double figures on-average for BYU. Haarms also leads the squad with 16 blocked shots.
Freshman forward Caleb Lohner leads the Cougars with 6.5 rebounds per game. Lohner and Barcello’s 8 steals apiece tie for the team lead.
Mark Pope is 32-10 (.762) as the Cougars’ head coach and 109-66 (.623) as a Division I men’s head coach.
The Cougars lead the Wildcats 34-11 all-time.
