Wasatch Track Excels At Salem Hills Invitational; Davis Awaits on Saturday

SALEM, Utah-Friday, the Wasatch High track and field team excelled in numerous events, gaining various individual titles at the Skyhawk Midnight Invite.

The Wasps’ tremendous success commenced in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles open section as Annie Hill won the crown in a time of 15.89 seconds.

In the seeded boys’ 110-meter hurdles, Wasatch’s Bennet Hill won the crown in 15.38 seconds. In the girls’ 100-meter dash open section, Katelyn Nichols won the title in a time of 13.26 seconds.

Kaden Smith continued the Wasps’ success with a crown in the boys’ open 100-meter dash in a time of 11.67 seconds.

Furthermore, Hailey Ellis excelled, winning the title for the Wasps in the seeded girls’ 1600-meter run in a time of 5:37.12.

The boys’ 400-meter seeded section title was won by Kellin Olsen in a time of 51.68 seconds and in the seeded section of the boys’ 300-meter hurdles, Jake Hill won the title in a time of 41.15 seconds.

Wasatch’s girls and boys’ medley teams also swept their respective titles in those events.

The girls won in a time of 4:26.30 as the team consisted of Katelyn Nichols, Sydney Hales, Makayla Bastos and Amy Richardson.

The boys’ title was won in a time of 3:39.89 and this team was comprised of Kaden Smith, Zachary Davis, Andrei Hinckley and Kellin Olsen.

The boys’ seeded discus title was won by Mitch Nelson with a toss of 126-03 feet, capping off a highly successful Friday for the Wasps’ track and field squad.

Wasatch has another chance to excel Saturdy at the Davis Invitational at Kaysville. This will be a perfect opportunity for the Wasps to test themselves against the strength of 5-A and 6-A as many of the storied track and field programs of Utah will be on hand.
