Wasatch High Track Competes At North Summit Invitational; Snow Concludes Meet Early

COALVILLE, Utah-Tuesday, Wasatch’s boys and girls track and field teams made the short 36-mile trip north to North Summit High School to compete at the North Summit Invitational which was halted early because of inclement snowy weather.

The girls placed third, posting 45 points, while the boys also placed third, posting 49 points.

The Wasatch girls won the medley relay title (4:24.54). The Wasps to compete in this event included Miranda Ross, Lucy Clawson, Sydney Hales and Abbie Randall.

The Wasatch boys also won the medley relay title (3:43.90). In this event, the Wasps were represented by Connely Hill, Kaden Smith, Mack Hinckley and Kellin Olsen.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Ellie Martindale placed second (17.69 seconds). Martindale also placed 24th in the girls’ long jump (10 feet).

Josh Benson took the crown in the boys’ 1600-meter run (4:50.45) and the girls’ 4 x 100 relay team placed second (53.28 seconds). In this event, the Wasps were led by Lucy Clawson, Miranda Ross, Annie Hill and Sydney Hales.

Symmetrically, the Wasatch boys also placed second in the 4 x 100 relay (48.33 seconds). Competing for the Wasps in this event were Kaden Smith, Connely Hill, Hayden Stocking and Peter Meuzelaar.

Alisha Maxwell and Annie Hill were co-champions in the girls’ high jump (4 feet-2 inches) while Anelie Peterson of Maeser Prep also tied for first.

In the boys’ shot put, Braxton Turner placed third (39-05), Enrique Ferreyra and Jay Nelson tied for sixth (36-08) and Quincy Olney finished sixth in the girls’ shot put (28-05.00).

In the boys’ discus, Enrique Ferreyra finished third (101-04) and Jay Nelson placed fourth (100-04, concluding the Wasps’ participation in the meet.

The Wasps are next in action Friday and Saturday May 3 and 4 at the BYU Invitational at Robison Track in Provo.
