PROVO, Utah-Friday, as the Wasatch Wasps’ boys and girls track and field squads ensued in their pursuit of championship glory, things started well with comfortable temperatures in the high 60’s-low 70’s and sufficient cloud cover.

Four Wasps athletes also made the 5-A all-state academic team. These athletes include Addy Larsen, McCall Scovil, Mikayla Stevens and Eric Patterson, so a sincere congratulations to all of them.

The 5-A girls’ high jump saw Wasatch’s Morgan Rosskelly place 10th and Mikayala Stevens finished 11th overall.

The 4-A through 6-A portion of the meet concluded with the 4 x 400 relay, often one of the most thrilling events of any track meet.

In their final event of this meet, the Wasatch girls’ 4 x 400 team placed sixth overall in a time of 4:06.48. In this event, the Wasps were represented by Makayla Bastos, Amy Richardson, Macy Risto and Sydney Hales.

The Wasatch girls symmetrically finished in 15th place by netting 15 points in their first foray into 5-A.

The Wasatch boys’ 4 x 400 team was disqualified, but the Wasps still managed to finish third in the 5-A boys’ standings with 61 points, an impressive feat for a first time 5-A school.
