Wasatch High School Girls Tennis Stars Excelling at 5-A State Tournament

SALT LAKE CITY-Friday at the 5-A state girls tennis tournament, Wasatch High School was represented by several stalwarts at the Liberty Park tennis courts.

Senior Alysha Damron, Region 8’s top first singles seed, has advanced to the semifinals. She has bested Skyline junior Rebecca Greene 7-5, 2-0 in the first round. In the second round, she downed Viewmont senior Meg Arbuckle 6-1, 7-5, 6-0. In the semifinals, she next faces East sophomore Emmie Moore.

In second doubles, Region 8’s #1 seed, senior Lana McNaughton and junior Katie Henderson, have also advanced to the semifinals.

In the first round, they dismantled Skyline sophomore Claire Keller and her senior teammate Sydney Waterman, 6-1, 6-1.

In the second round, they bested Brighton seniors Tessa Hopkin and Taylor Reardon 6-0, 6-1.

Up next, in the semifinals, they are facing Springville juniors Emma Hafen and Hanna Geary.
